Cooking is like painting or writing a song. Just as there are only so many notes or colors, there are only so many flavors - it's how you combine them that sets you apart. It's a combination of art as well as science, a skill that can be inherited or learnt and which is constantly evolving and adapting to the various needs. Sharing it with others can be very fulfilling and I just want to do that…

Welcome to Riya's Kitchen! My name is Ria Chattopadhyay, born and brought up in a small city of West Bengal, in a traditional Bengali family. Just after my graduation on biological science, I had jumped into Kolkata with my husband. I had visited Rabindra Bharati University for my master degree on environment science.

What you'll find on Riya's Kitchen

About Page Recipe collage

I always open to try foods of any cuisine. Beside our own Bengali/Indian cuisine I had experienced and tried Continental, Chinese, Tibetan, Iranian, Turkish, Mexican, African and others. Our own Indian cuisine encompasses a wide variety of regional and traditional cuisines native to India.
Most of the recipes found here are learnt from my friends, books, neighbors, TV shows, due to my interest in cooking. Each recipe in this site has been tried and tested many times and in most of the recipes on Riya’s Kitchen I have used only common indigents which are available in any local market in India or any Indian store anywhere.

Indigents calculator tool on each recipe of Riya’s Kitchen helps you to build your meal plan and grocery list.

Food Hunting

In addition to nourishing your body and soul through the taste buds, I also hope this website will help you to explore and find the food of different places on the earth, on the street, remote places and restaurants, which is where Food Hunting comes in! Food Hunting section of Riya’s Kitchen features a variety of exciting eating places. Me and my friends would not only visit the restaurants where you enjoy the comfort food, we would visit the places wherever food is available and we would hunt and share them with you.
